Auxerrois "Vieilles Vignes," Valentin Zusslin - 2010

White | France, Alsace | (750 )mL
This Auxerrois, from old vines situated on an iron-rich hill with topsoils of poor, crumbly sandstone, displays honeyed and pollen-laden yellow plums and apricots. Full on the palate, with chiseled, mineral acidity, it is a delightful Alsatian white that drinks superbly with tangy Pan-Asian fare, seafood in cream sauces, orl grilled pork chops.

A pretty garnet in the glass, this dinner-ready red is worthy of roast turkey breast and charred Brussels sprouts.

Amarone "Rosson", Terre di Pietra - 2008

Red | Italy, Veneto | (750 )mL
Winemaker Laura Albertini was one of the late Giuseppe Quintarelli's trio of students. This exposure could do nothing but complement her talent in the vineyard. Her vines are old, coveted pergolas planted on the pink soils of the Torbe vineyard. The soil contributes heavily to the structured austerity that benefits from a good decanting for immediate drinking or for long-term aging.
