Put It on Ice: Bountiful Beaujolais

Don’t discount Beaujolais as less-than-serious. Beaujolais is Burgundy, after all, although—in the case of the reds—made from the Gamay grape rather than from Pinot Noir or Chardonnay. The wines of this French appellation are thoughtful and mature, especially those coming from the Crus; in fact, we have wines from all 10 of these singular towns in our arsenal. The whites and rosés of Beaujolais are somewhat rare and incredibly distinctive in their own right and are worth catching a glimpse of but the earthy, complex reds are particularly well-suited to a nice chill and a pairing with your favorite barbecued foods, fish, or cheese platters. These are wines for hot weather that thrive with the help of an ice bucket. Summer may mean the summer doldrums, but Beaujolais won’t let you down.
