The Span of Spanish Wine

Spain has dozens of wine regions stretching throughout the country in every direction. And as many regions that exist, there are just as many wine styles - ranging from opulent to staunchly traditional. Many modern Spanish wines focus on accentuated fruit and the overt oak influence of new casks. Other producers prefer a style that captures the profile of indigenous grapes - where the influence of new oak is much less pronounced. These wines tend to reflect a region’s climate and soil as much as the winemaker’s own production methods. The most traditional Spanish wines celebrate local grapes, natural yeasts, soil-types, and distinct terrain as opposed to any particular style a winemaker would otherwise impose - besides the intense physical work required in the vineyards. With its wide spectrum of wine styles, Spain offers up the best of both worlds - Old and New.
