Staff Pick Notes

It is overly simplistic to say that all dessert wines are dripping with flavors of honey and dried stone fruit. You might as well say that all Rieslings are sweet or all Cabs are fruit bombs. It's just not true. This dessert wine from Bordeaux evokes raw walnuts, floral incense, and gun powder aromas. The palate is rich with beeswax, flint, and marmalade but is in no way cloyingly sweet. This makes for a great pair with strong cheeses and salty meats. The exotic aromas and flavors of this wine bring me back to summer night picnics lit only by the fireworks above us.
