Chablis "Terroir Découverte," Piuze - 2022

Terroir Decouverte is from the "des Couverts" parcel, touching 1er Cru Vaulorent on the north-facing part of the Grand Cru hill. It is one of the coolest parcels in Chablis and always the last to be harvested. The result is a zippy, racy acidity with lean minerality. A great choice for shrimp on the barbie.

Staff Pick Notes

It is a difficult task to be recognized by other winemakers when you are young and foreign, and this is especially true in Burgundy. Patrick Piuze came from a bourgeois family in Quebec, Canada that had nothing to do with the world of winemaking, but today, he is one of the most followed winemakers, and shows a bright future. Starting from the bottom, Patrick learned winemaking through extensive travelling and working around the world in Australia, South Africa and Israel. He then moved to Burgundy to work and learn under Maison Olivier Leflaive, Maison Verget (J-M Guffens) and Maison Jean-Marc Brocard. The strength of his wine is that each one represents a different, very specific terroir. Chablis "Terroir Découverte" is citrus forward, green minerality, with herbal notes present, and a gentle lingering finish.
