Brennivin is known as an aquavit, a spirit made from a fermented mash of grain or potatoes and flavored with caraway and additional herbs if desired. Notes include pure sweet and savory caraway, hints of dill, dried oregano, sweet malted cereal, wild sage, and patchouli.

Why are you not drinking Brennivin? It's the spirit of Iceland! Land of Bjork! Seriously though, its a clean, clear, Aquavit, flavored with caraway and quite delicious. It walks the line between a vodka and a gin and is often taken as a chilled celebratory shot. Cocktailistas are now using it to breathe new life into traditional cocktails. Personally, I love to keep it in the freezer and pair it with food of all stripes, particularly seafood; herring, salmon, caviar.
