Staff Pick Notes

If you’re on the lookout for incredible female winemakers, here’s Laura Catena. Born in Mendoza, Argentina, Catena graduated magna cum laude from Harvard, going on to earn a medical degree from Stanford. She still works as a doctor in San Francisco...while holding the position of 4th generation vintner at Bodega Catena Zapata, which happens to be the family many credit with introducing Argentinian Malbec to the world. She is also the author of two books, which she wrote in her “free time” while raising three children. As if that all weren’t impressive enough, her wines are delicious. This Malbec is bold while being balanced and smooth on the finish. It’s delightful, like Laura.
