Larmandier’s Tete de Cuvee is from old parcels of Chardonnay in the Grand Cru village of Cramant (and a small bit from Chouilly). Dense fruit, including poached pear, figs, apples and meyer lemon round out a palate of depth and bredth. Cramant's chalk soils are on full display, providing structure, texture and a lightly salty finish. It spends a full five years on the lees before disgorgement and has zero dosage, but you'd never even know given its extraordinary depth and richness. I'm continually impressed with old vine Champagne and this cuvee is no exception.
