Cannonau di Sardegna "Le Bombarde" - 2022

Item # 12464 750mL

Cannonau is known as Grenache in other parts of the world. “Le Bombarde” is a full-bodied red from Sardinia overflowing with fruit: plums, red berries, and prunes. Its delightful richness beautifully sets off all sorts of decadent, meaty cuisines.

Staff Pick Notes

I was shocked to discover that no one had written a staff pick about this bottle before me. A Sardinian garnacha with panache at twelve dollars a pop is my kind of wine: fresh, ruby-colored, and flavorful, with a slightly earthy dry finish. Red fruits, hints of herbs, pepper and tobacco also come alive - there's quite a lot going on here. Le Bombarde comes from the picturesque northwest corner of Sardinia, where unspoiled natural beauty abounds on gorgeous coastal plains. The kind of place where you want to stop working at 3 pm and have an early al fresco pasta dinner. Have some pork ragu and a bottle of this and you'll find yourself going back for a sip after each mouthful of noodles, incredulous as to how good of a wine and how good of a deal this is.
