This is Nebbiolo for Burgundy lovers. G.D. Vajra wines are consistently elegant and focused solely on the purity of the fruit. Vibrant, sappy dark cherry notes, a touch of mint, with tons of extract, no oak, medium tannins, balanced acidity, and minerality. That's right, (shockingly) no tar, no roses. Sounds more like a Chambolle-Musigny than a Barolo, doesn't it? Nebbiolo gets a (mostly warranted) reputation for being a grape that needs age before it softens and becomes enjoyable. However, the Vajra wines accomplish the rare feat of being brilliant while young, and retaining the potential for gaining complexity with age. A rare treat at an incredible price.

Piedmont

The most famous grape in Piedmont is the noble Nebbiolo, which makes the long-lived Barolo and Barbaresco.
