Staff Pick Notes

Fun and easy to drink, this organic wine will dance softly on your palate. Fruit-forward with ample minerality, this happy wine is the perfect 1.5 L bottle to bring to the party. Domaine des Terres Vivantes is located in southern Beaujolais town of Charpenay. Ludovic and Marie Gros are "paysans boulangers" that have been tend the 14 hectares since 1995 with the help of their two children. In addition to making honest wine, they also bake bread using organic wheat they grow.

Pairing Advice

This wine really tastes like Gamay, which we love. It's got lots of juicy fruit and is meant for washing down fun foods and not thinking too much about it. Make turkey sandwiches with mayo, stuffing, lettuce, and cranberry relish (which will echo the cranberry notes in the wine); grab a bottle of (lightly chilled) "La Lutine"; and take them to the park for a picnic!

Beaujolais-Villages is a step up. Compared to basic Beaujolais, the rules for Beaujolais-Villages wines are more strict. Villages wine is produced in far smaller quantities. Beaujolais Nouveau is perhaps the most gulpable wine made anywhere, and it should be drunk very soon after its release, which occurs each year on the...
