Staff Pick Notes

If you prefer your bubbles with a bit more heft and spice, then prepare for bedazzlement when you pop this cork. I was totally delighted by the depth in this old-vines show stopper and even more surprised by the assemblage. Made from 100% Chardonnay in stainless steel, this seems to have the hallmark of a wine that spent some time in oak. Ripe apple along with cardamom are underpinned by a mild nutty character and baking spices. It must be the age of the vines speaking rather than the winemaking technique. Give this wine some time to open up and it will shine even brighter. It's a real super star at a great price.

It is a flexible, eager-to-please grape, responding well to just about anything a winemaker...
