The result is a wine of pure character and elegance. It may seem somewhat reticent at first, but given a moment to open reveals herbal dark berries, dried rhubarb and stunning dark florals.

Staff Pick Notes

The higher the hair, the closer to God. The same can be said for vines! The vineyards of Valtellina are so high altitude that the Cherubim and Seraphim are pretty much tending to them. I am not certain that the children of Arturo Pelizzatti Perego are actually angels amongst us, but damn this Chivanesca (the local name for Nebbiolo) sure tastes like it. Dried cherries, rose and violets petals, Greek oregano, and a lovely earthy note round out this nicely structured mountain nectar. The sandy soils of the Grumello plot gift us mere mortals this riserva aged in chestnuts botti. Hallelujah, rejoice and sip this wine only after decanting!
