It is difficult to find a Cali Merlot as well-integrated as this. What were once large boisterous tannins have become restrained, inky dark berries and cassis fill out with plumpness and weight. Notes of black tea leaf and sage add interesting, contrasting tones. Wonderful for marinated wild Duck and herbs. There is a a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon added in this Merlot. Drinking very well now, with enough substance to last more years in the cellar. This wine was matured in large French oak barrels, before resting in bottle these many years.
