Brachetto d'Acqui "Sogno Rosso," Paolo Pizzorni - 2022

Item # 27565 750mL

A very pretty traditional Brachetto, oozing luscious red strawberry aromas and flavors. A delicate touch of musk and bright-berried acidity complements the softly sparkling sweetness, finishing to a fresh, stony finish. A cool choice for light appetizers or salads with strawberries and peaches. Also wonderful for dessert tables of Italian cookies and cakes.

Staff Pick Notes

Produced in the Barbera DOC, Brachetto d'Acqui is made from the Brachetto grape, a sweet and aromatic grape similar to the Malvasia or Moscato. Paolo Pizzorni wines are the result of nearly a century of winemaking traditions, started by his great grandparent Calein in 1929. The cultivation of grapevines is the key to Paolo's success -- low yield is important for producing quality grapes. Sweet aromatic, rose petals, strawberries, and grape musk. A great appetizer if you enjoy a little sweetness before dinner, but also excellent to pair with a savory strawberry salad or with a chocolate dessert.

Several other Piedmontese grapes make striking and delicious wines: Pelaverga produces light-colored reds with distinctive notes of strawberry, cherry, and pink peppercorn. The red Freisa is vinified in a variety of styles:...
