Valpolicella Classico Superiore, Quintarelli

Valpolicella Classico Superiore, Quintarelli - 2016

Item # 29387 750mL

Giuseppe--fondly known as “Bepi” to those closest to him, was a perfectionist in every way. From the beautiful, handwritten labels, right down to the exquisite wine in the bottles, the Quintarelli name is a stamp of authenticity and the ultimate indication of an artisanal, handmade, uncompromising wine of the highest quality. This Valpolicella is made up of the traditional grapes of the region. Corvina dominates, with some Rondinella; there is a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo, and Croatina in the mix as well. This blend is part of what makes Quintarelli unique. Made in a ripasso method, the wine matures in Slovenian oak seven years before release.

Glossary

Corvina

The red Corvina grape (a.k.a. Corvina Veronese) is the most widely planted grape in Italy's Valpolicella and Bardolino regions. In recent years, it has gained momentum as the best grape for making Amarone.

Veneto

Valpolicella

This is a very large region that produces all sorts of red wines, often from the Corvina grape, that range from light, early-drinking, Beaujolais-esque efforts to hulking dried-grape monsters like Recioto and Amarone.
