Eminence Road "Elizabeth's Vineyard" Cabernet Franc - 2021

Item # 29510 750mL

This Cabernet Franc is a stand-out: mossy yet floral with red-fruited aromas. More delicate and appropriate to the cooler climate of upstate New York, this wine is ideal for sliced meats, stinky cheeses, and poultry. It is recommended to decant. Elizabeth's vineyard is located on the east side of Seneca Lake, a warmer slope for the Finger Lakes. Decant this wine to enjoy its best.

Staff Pick Notes

It's no secret that Eminence Road is at the top of my Finger Lakes producers list. The wines are honest, pure expressions of fruit, bottled without fining or filtration. If you've never had a bottle, then you are in for a real treat. Because these wines are vinified and bottled in a low-fi style, you may experience a bit of a prickle on the palate when the bottle is first opened. No need to worry, as this will dissipate as the bottle is poured out, but it's just this wine's way of saying hello! If you enjoy fresh & fruit-forward (NOT sweet!) styles of wine, then I think you will definitely be into these beauties. These may be natural, but there's nothing funky to fear here. I have not been disappointed by a bottle yet.

New York

New York winemakers have embraced international varieties and hit the ground running. The Hudson River Valley is home to the oldest vineyards in New York State. Cabernet Franc

Relegated to moderate obscurity in modern times, Cabernet Franc is in fact the proud parent of the attention-hogging Cabernet Sauvignon (after an illicit affair with Sauvignon Blanc a hundred-odd years ago). Cabernet Franc has remained close to its roots in France, enjoying small pockets of popularity primarily in the Loire Valley (specifically in Chinon), where it is often bottled as a varietal wine, and in Bordeaux where it is still used in moderate percentages in the typical blends. In fact,...
