Dolcetto d'Alba "Le Rose," Barale - 2021

Item # 31161 750mL

Le Rose is a parcel located between Barolo and Monforte. This is a fruity yet medium-bodied Dolcetto that's not the over-extracted style that is prevalent on the market. Aromas of crushed black cherries, white pepper, and violets. Fine tannins that make for a formidable match with any cured meats.

Staff Pick Notes

The Dolcetto is the type of wine that people enjoy throughout the entire year. The Azienda Agricola Barale Fratelli has been making wine since the 19th century. Specializing in the Nebbiolo grape, they are naturally located in the heart of Barolo. I like to think their Dolcetto is a carpe diem grape, a little Barolo's brother that wants to live life in the moment. With the Dolcetto d'Alba "Le Rose," you will get plenty of fresh sensations directly connected to the Langhe region soil. Fresh and fruity with bitter almond and violet. This medium body wine is an easy and relaxing wine to enjoy with someone special ;)

Dolcetto

A red grape variety grown in Piedmont and nearly nowhere else. Dolcetto-based wines are not sweet, as many people might surmise on hearing the name; the Piedmontese declared it "dolce" only because it is lower in acid than the wines they're used to. Dolcettos are usually meant to be enjoyed young. Some of the best ones come from the area around the town of Alba.
