Staff Pick Notes

This is a beautiful ready-to-drink Nebbiolo from Neive in Piedmont. The winery is a practicing organic winery. In this area, the grapes tend to ripen sooner than those that are used for Barolo. The wine is usually aged for less time than for Barolo but it can achieve the soft, intense fruitiness that makes it such a pleasure to drink with the Italian sauced or fried foods. The tannins are almost always smoother than those found in Barolo. Aging and storage is in neutral oak barrels, which stabilize it for the ages. And even though a lot of care goes into growing the grapes and making the wine, the cost of this wonderful Barbaresco is less than that of the Barolo. If you want a Nebbiolo to drink now, this is it.
