Staff Pick Notes

To taste Baga, one of Portugal’s many gifts to the world, we have to go to the source. This source is the Bairrada DOC, a region in central Portugal close to the Atlantic coast. Here, the coastal climate combined with the sandy clay and limestone-rich soils help to create an incredibly distinctive Baga grape, a thick-skinned grape with immense character. Sidonio de Sousa has some of the oldest Baga vines in all of Portugal! When these grapes are fermented and aged in 100-year-old Portuguese oak barriques, we are left with a true representation of all this grape has to offer; and with some bottle age, you will be amazed! Black plums, dried cherries, musk, leather, and herbs are all here to add that extra dimension to your next meal.
