Staff Pick Notes

Leonardo Bussoletti nearly single handedly is bringing about the revival of an ancient Italian varietal known as Ciliegiolo, which dates back to the 1200s in Umbria! In modern times, this grape has been playing second (or third) fiddle in wines from Chianti, often used to soften Sangiovese, but Leonardo set out to change this. By reviving local clones and producing only single varietal Ciliegiolo wines, he has demonstrated the true beauty of this aromatic and softly textured varietal. Ciliegiolo translates to "little cherry" and delivers a flavor combination of juicy red cherries, forest berries, and wild violets. Leonardo loves Burgundy and styles his wines with this in mind. This bottling showcases so much love for a single grape, one that is truly a hidden gem!
