Tasting Notes

A lively sparkling rosé made from the Primitivo grape. Dry and lightly tannic, this an ideal rosé for enjoying with a meal. In the Gioia del Colle, 300 to 400 meters above sea level, Polvanera's Primitivo profits from sunshine and a rocky habitat.

Staff Pick Notes

It isn't often (as in, almost never) that one stumbles upon a sparkling rosé Primitivo. But I'm SO glad our buyers did. This everyday grape is grown almost exclusively in southern Italy's Apuglia region... except that... American Zinfandel has been identified as the same varietal. So, as I was opening the bottle I thought, am I really about to drink a White Zinfandel, the cloying, second-rate darling of the 1980s? Have no fear, friends. Polvanera's take is bursting with ripe strawberry, raspberry, and citrus, but without sweetness. The dry finish owes to the tangy acidity and those fizzy bubbles which keep the wine from tilting in a candy-like direction. Enjoy this addictive summer sipper on the veranda. Now all I need is a veranda.
