Staff Pick Notes

Bee Hotels? Bee-lieve it! If you're in the mood for a classic yet affordable Bordeaux Blanc, the Chateau Lamothe Blanc 2016 will not disappoint. This lovely wine is a blend of 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Semillon, and 20% Muscadelle, which adds a perfectly balanced floral note. The Néel-Chombart family, which has been running Chateaux Lamothe since 1956, is committed to sustainable farming, including the presence of bee hotels on the property! Perhaps this is why the wine, with its fresh peach blossom, light citrus, and honeysuckle nose, reminds me of picnics in sunny meadows with bumble bees lazily floating from flower to flower. Enjoy this wine on its own, or with light dishes such as fish, green salads, or chilled soups.

For white Bordeaux, only three varieties are permitted: Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillion, and Muscadelle. The exact percentages of each grape variety used in any...
