Meursault Vieilles Vignes, Dom. Pernot Belicard - 2022

Item # 37389 750mL

An old vines parcel of Meursault, which means that this already rich Burgundy will show even more texture and body as a result. Absolutely a wine you can age for a few years, even at this village level. Jean-Baptiste is Paul Pernot's grandson, he learned how to make wines by his side. When he got married, he created with his wife's parcels the domain Pernot Belicard. It is consequently a new domain but with old vineyards.

Staff Pick Notes

There's no shortage of hallowed ground in Burgundy. And when it comes to whites, Meursault is one of the most revered. Despite its lack of a Grand Cru site, the terroir here is considered one of the finest for Chardonnay. The key to the region is to follow the producer. Although Pernot Belicard was launched only in 2009, its founder, Philippe Pernot, is the grandson of Paul Pernot, who still runs the famous 17-hectare family domaine in Puligny-Montrachet. Meursaults may be known for their richness, but this was much more refined and elegant. You'll find citrus, wet stone, tropical fruit notes, and a hint of toastiness. This is excellent now but will be great over the next 3 to 5 years.

It is a flexible, eager-to-please grape, responding well to just about anything a winemaker...
