Item # 37937 750mL

Rías Baixas is part of northwestern Spain and is known as green Spain after the verdant topography of the area. This iis a blend of native, hardly seen varieties of the region: Souson, Espadeiro, Pedral, Brancellao, Caiño Tinto and Mencía. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts in every way. Unoaked.

Staff Pick Notes

Fento means fern, and apparently the pristine enviorn of Spanish Galicia gets likened to the Garden of Eden. I just like saying Fento. It reminds me of Fenti, like Rihanna, the pop star. Luckily I can tie this whole association together by saying this wine is extremely pretty, like Rihanna, and full of primary beauty like...a fern? Fento Tinto is from a new family-run winemaking operation in aforementioned Galicia. What I admire is their position to champion the grapes native to the region, a few I hadn't heard of before. Whatever the case, this blend of Souson, Espadeiro, Mencia, Pedral, (wait there's more?) Brancellao, and Caino Tinto is so amazing. Intoxicating florals and sweet-tart aromatic enticement. Maybe a little candied violets & flower stems, gooey brandied cherries but once you sip, a tart surprise. Rihanna would love this.

Rías Baixas

Located on the Northeast coast of Spain, just north of the Portuguese border, Rías Baixas is home to the famed white grape varietal Albariño. These deliciously refreshing whites typically offer aromas of peach, apricot, and melon, backed by a steely minerality and a lean, crisp finish.
