Staff Pick Notes

Guy Breton is one of the OG Beaujolais producers who brought the region back from it's sugar-steeped grave. He's been kicking ass and taking names since 1986, when he took over his family's estate. Don't be fooled by the youth of this wine—the electric fruit, earth, and soul of this wine are so deeply intertwined you can taste the complexity even after just two years. Imagine spending a sunny afternoon walking through Central Park with no worldly pressure beating down on your shoulders. That's how it feels to take a sip of this mineral-driven wine. For the best experience possible: Decant or leave open for 3-4 hours and let the juice breath. The air opens notes of velvety violets, blazing raspberry-rhubarb jam, and wet pebbles.

Beaujolais Nouveau is perhaps the most gulpable wine made anywhere, and it should be drunk very soon after its release, which occurs each year on the...
