I first fell in love with Vin Santo during a trip Tuscany several years ago. The Italian bistros would often serve their house Vin Santo alongside a plate of homemade biscotti. It was, and still is, in my mind, the perfect dessert. And that's exactly how I recommend enjoying this incredible Vin Santo--next to a plate of toasted almond biscotti. The toasted almond in the biscotti blends perfectly with the almond and hazelnut aromas on the nose, which expand to include dried apricot, caramel, and buckwheat honey on the full-bodied and surprisingly smooth palate. Take a sip of Vin Santo, a bit of biscotti, close your eyes and imagine yourself watching the stars on a terrace in the Tuscan countryside.
