Duckhorn Merlot - 2021

Item # 50041 750mL

A full and lush character plays counterpoint to restraint and elegance on this well-bred Merlot. Promising aromas of cherry, red plum, raspberry, and dried herbs lead to a clean, fresh entry, while balanced acidity supports intense red fruit flavors of cranberry, plum, and raspberry. Round, supple tannins provide an enticing framework for the flavors and contribute to a lingering finish. A classic for roast lamb.

Staff Pick Notes

Sometimes you just gotta go for the usual suspects. While I generally don't really drink rich and heavy Napa Valley wines, Duckhorn Merlot will always hold a special place in my heart, as it does the Napa "thing" well: rich and opulent with heavy oak influence. Notes of dark cherries, blueberries, and a touch of raspberry. Mostly made of Merlot, Duckhorn always blends in a healthy portion of Cabernet, as well as small amounts of the other Bordeaux varietals to make this a balanced and consistent product every vintage. Drink with a big rare cut of your Christmas roast. Eat and drink until your feet feel swollen and be in bed by 8.
