Glenfiddich usually needs no introduction, but this wonderful 21-year-old whisky is a new expression from this legendary distillery. The traditional cooked fruit and savory/spice notes of Speyside Scotch is given a little something extra, as it has been finished in Caribbean rum cask. It gives the whisky a lovely touch of sweetness on the finish, which is perfect for an evening by the fire. I tried it recently at a work event and enjoyed it as an after-dinner drink with a variety of cheeses. It paired perfectly and was everything you would expect from a rich, decadent whisky. Given the price point for 21-year-old whisky, it's also a solid all-around purchase for holiday gifts and last-minute shopping.

History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century.
