Breuckelen Dist. - 77 Whiskey NY Wheat

Item # 25569 750mL

Yet another NYC first: a whiskey made from 100% organically grown NY State wheat, distilled in Brooklyn, and matured at least four months in new American oak. Scents of vanilla, maple, and citrus emerge from the glass. Smooth, round, sweet and easy-drinking with flavors of maple and cinnamon make it easy to understand why the distiller refers to it as "French Toast Breakfast".

Staff Pick Notes

Let me tell you a few things about this wonderful craft whiskey from 77 19th Street, Brooklyn, NY! Note this is whiskey made from 100% organically grown NY state wheat, not a "wheat whiskey," as it is distilled to above 160 proof. The short time spent in new three-char American oak barrels always includes the full duration of the summer months, where temperatures in the barrel room can top 100 degrees! What this means is they get great color extraction at an accelerated rate. All these factors help create a kind of whiskey that I've never had before, and it's delicious! The nose reminds me of wonderful maple-drenched "diner" pancakes with a dollop of honey in the mix. The palate does have sweetness, but it is not sticky at all! The grains really shine through, the mouth feel is soft and generous, the finish awesome. Cheers, Stephen W.

New York

New York winemakers have embraced international varieties and hit the ground running. The Hudson River Valley is home to the oldest vineyards in New York State. No longer is our fair state synonymous with Concord grapes and Manischewitz; look for brilliant iterations of Pinot Noir, Riesling, Cabernet Franc,...
