'Tis a shame how some spirits get discovered by the masses and soon become either impossible to find or impossible to afford. This has thankfully, yet somewhat inexplicably, not happened to Armagnac. Forever in the shadow of their cousin to the North in, Cognac, the region of Armagnac produces top notch brandy on a smaller production scale, and the value is simply unbeatable. Exhibit A: Dartigalongue Armagnac XO. Born of a family with a rich history whose roots in the region date back to the early 19th century, this Armagnac is aged for 10 years in French oak casks and is velvety smooth, warming, and comforting. Candied, spiced, fruited, rich, and nutty, this is outstanding brandy at a great price. You're welcome.
