Tasting Notes

Inchgower is a distillery that is sometimes overlooked because most of their malts go into blending. There is a reason that malt whisky from this Speyside distillery is so sought after. Intense aromas of honeydew and watermelon, combined with crusty buttered pastry, only scratch the surface of complexity here. Citrus, stone fruits, vanilla, spice, and a delightful finish of freshly-fried glazed donuts make this one of the finest whiskies on our shelves. Rare and limited.

To say having the Inchgower Single Malt on our shelves is rare would be a complete understatement. Furthermore, if you then say it's a 31-year-old expression and an exclusive, we are now talking about an almost miraculous event. Inchgower is a Diageo-owned distillery so cherished for its blending qualities that it virtually never sees the light of day as a single malt bottling. This is probably the most interesting dram I have tasted this year, so complex and full of flavors I had previously not experienced in whisky. The nose – watermelon, sweet candied red fruit (Jolly Rancher), all underpinned with a delicate saline note. The palate bursts with fruit salad developing into a rich, silky cream with a peppery finish. Left to sit in the glass, toffee, vanilla, and this hint of condensed milk start to show. Awesome Scotch.
