The proprietors of Domaine D'Ognoas live by the words, "Flame, Mystery, Patience". And to them these words perfectly define what great Armagnac stands for. Located in Arthez d'Armagnac—in the heart of Armagnac's premier growing region—this estate puts its money where its mouth is using the oldest still in Gascony circa 1804 to distill their eau de vie, tending all of their vines along with their team of local apprentices and exclusively using oak from old trees found on their sprawling 350 hectares estate for the casks that age their brandy. This batch of 10-year-old XO was bottled exclusively for us as a classic example of old school Armagnac. Notes include maple wood, roasted chestnuts, hot chocolate, sultanas, yellow peach, vine flowers, forest floor, caramel, and sweet spices. Takes a bit of time to open up in the glass but this gorgeous spirit generously rewards the patient imbiber.
