Txakolina Rosado "Rubentis," Ameztoi - 2023

Item # 19856 750mL

This is truly thirst quenching rosé. A Txakoli rosé, you say? Why yes. Made from the same grapes as Txakoli in the tiny Basque region, this wine shows bright acidity, with hints of rose petals, red candied fruits, and fresh strawberries.

Staff Pick Notes

Txakoli, the wine of the Basque country in northern Spain, is known primarily as a crisp, dry, lightly spritzy white made from the local Hondaribbi Zuri grape. The region's local red grape, Hondaribbi Beltza, is a relative obscurity as most producers long ago ripped out their red vines in favor of the white. Not Ameztoi, however. In addition to making a genuinely unique red wine, they make this rose from a blend of the two grapes and the results are electric. This bottle is a veritable garden party under a screw cap. Watermelon, cucumber, strawberry, raspberry, and lemon meet a firm backbone of wet rocks and high-voltage acidity. And at a cool 10.5% abv, the nimble texture and refreshment can beat just about any contrived hard seltzer in a can. Let this gem be your summer jam.
