Staff Pick Notes

From this highly regarded location comes one of the best efforts from Alexander Valley, Sonoma. The soil composition is gravelly, clay-like, and volcanic formed over thousands of years of alluvial fan movement and flooding. This allows for drainage that is key for high quality grape growing and characteristics such as "wet stone" minerality. Realizing the remarkable potential of the land, the Stuhlmuller Family puchased 150 acres in 1982.The clones for this Chardonnay have been selected for their ability to produce small clusters as well as grapes with complex character. Combined with 76% malolactic fermentation, aging the wine sur-lie, and minimal oak integration, give this wine a vibrant, rich feel on the palate. Aromatics of stone fruit, pear, apple and hints of tropical fruit play well together.

It is a flexible, eager-to-please grape, responding well to just about anything a winemaker...

Situated at the top of Sonoma County, with about 15,000 acres of highly-prized vineyards, today’s Alexander Valley encompasses a variety of microclimates, supporting a wide-range of grape varieties. While Cabernet Sauvignon reigns supreme on the gravelly terrain of the valley floor, the region also produces notable Chardonnays, Zinfandels, Merlots, and Sauvignon Blancs. Even some cooler-climate...
