Here is a beautiful left bank Bordeaux. Chateau Aney has a history that dates back to the 19th century, with the most recent owners buying this abandoned property in the 1970's. With a full update of the winemaking facility, Jean Raimond and his son Pierre returned the estate to Cru Bourgeois status. The star here is classic left bank terrior, with the 15 hectare estate resting on gravel soils tucked between St-Julien and Margaux. This is a classic Haut-Medoc, boasting mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a perfect balance of power and finesse.The cassis and wood and herbaceousness coexist and play off each other in waves, leading to beautiful lingering finish. Such a shame this winery has been sold to Clément Fayat and its entire production will go to "flesh out" Fayat's second wine. Drink this while you can!
