Tasting Notes

This is from the celebrated 1er Cru Les Gravières, vinified with little new oak and showing beautifully today. Still youthful with earthy flavors and dried rose and herb aromas. Rustic red currants and rhubarb flavors make this an excellent choice at the table.

Staff Pick Notes

This is hands-down the best deal you'll find in Burgundy. A 16-year-old Premier Cru, from a quality producer, that is now drinking beautifully, for $40? Impossible, you say? Read on! "Les Gravieres" shows notes of delicate dried cherry, raisin, & fig; warm earth, cedar, toffee; dried leaves & roses. On the palate it is amazingly youthful: bright, tart, & juicy. Chapelle's style is marked by a restrained use of cellar manipulation & new oak (10-20%), truly allowing the grape and the terroir to shine through. This gorgeous Santenay Rouge is made from old vines and has spectacular depth and length of finish. Share a bottle with friends - they'll say you're far too generous, and it'll be our little secret.

Fans of rich, unctuous, and well-oaked Chardonnay will enjoy Chassagne-Montrachet, whose age-worthy offerings offer all the fatness...
