Staff Pick Notes

Talk about wines that overdeliver for the price. I (foolishly) went in with low expectations but this wine was such a pleasant surprise I had to write about it. From the picturesque town of Gondrin, located about halfway between Bordeaux and Toulouse, Domaine des Cassagnoles effortlessly hits it out of the park with this easy drinking, refreshing blend of Ugni Blanc, Colombard, and Petit Manseng. It's herbaceous and grassy, it's minerally and stony, and its citrusy and floral. Granny smith apples, dried peach, and lime come to mind. It'll go beautifully with a seafood salad or some sardines with garlic and olive oil. All that for under $10? Sign me up. Serve chilled at your next picnic by the pond, or, honestly, just crack it open whenever you feel like it.
