This is made from the Sicilian red grape Nero d'Avola and comes from a limestone-based vineyard around Pachino in the Val di Noto area. A full-bodied, chocolatey red wine with a complex mix of black berries, vanilla, and mineral-driven tannins. It is always a favorite wine at the dinner table. This unfiltered bottling should be decanted to aerate the wine and separate the sediment.

What a gorgeous wine! A great way to spread the word that elegant and age-worthy Italian reds come from beyond Piedmont and Tuscany (at a much friendlier price point). It's made from organically produced Nero d'Avola that was aged for two years in small 500L barrels. It is a beautiful ruby color in the glass, full of red and black berries with a touch of purple flowers and vanilla that balance the intense structure. Incredibly complex, this wine is fabulous now with hearty meat dishes and will be great for years to come as it continues to develop.
