**Sound of Islay** From the north shore of the island, Caol Ila, pronounced Cull-eela, literally means "the Sound of Islay". Plenty of sweet seaweed and floral notes on a light frame with a pungent, peppery finish.

I don't mean to step on anyone's toes... but here we go. I've sat elbow-to-elbow at bars with pretentious drinkers eager to nuke and salt their tastebuds with extreme flavors and high alcohol all too many times. I sob into my glass as their tongues dissolve. What do I sob into? Caol Ila 12. Sweet seaweed, healthy peat, white pepper, heather, and chimney smoke. This is all dished out in elegant proportions, making a whisky that achieves harmony instead of heavily saturated flavors. Stop drinking sherry bombs and start drinking whisky.
