Mt. Etna is blowing up! Located in eastern Sicily, Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. The wine scene on Etna has become just as active over the last decade with more than a hundred producers calling the area home. Volcanic activity yields soil types not found elsewhere on Earth and results in wines of depth and complexity. This red from Biondi is a classic Etna blend of two native grapes: Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. Along with notes of red and purple flowers, you'll find earth, smoke, red spices and super fine tannins. This is a wine you can enjoy now after decanting, or else cellar it for up to a decade or more.
