Staff Pick Notes

Brilliantly residing somewhere between Sherry and Madeira (in terms of style) this wine is as delicious as it is intriguing! From extremely ripe monastrell grapes this wine achieves 16% alcohol without the need for fortification. During the aging process The deep red hue dissolves into a deep tawny brown colour. The wine is deep and rich, with notes of dried figs, dates and nuts, This old school oxidative, solera aged Spanish wine is for those looking for both an adventure and to be lulled into delight!

Alicante

The picturesque city of Alicante in the Valencia region of Spain has a vibrant tourism industry - which makes it all the more surprising that its wines are so little known outside of Spain. The region, lying on the southeastern border, produces a great variety of wines - from light and fruity whites to oak-aged Cabernet. It can also claim some of the best Moscatels in the country, as well as a unique rancio wine made from sun-dried Monastrell grapes called Fondillon.

Monastrell

A Spanish synonym for the dark-skinned Mourvèdre grape.
