Tasting Notes

From the steep hills of Cayuga Lake, this flavorful Riesling is full of Finger Lakes character. Stone fruits on the nose give way to lemon-lime vibrancy on the tongue. It’s a juicy and delicious new offering from New York State.

Staff Pick Notes

My heart always calls back to the Finger Lakes region as this is where I basically was cutting my teeth exclusively at the start of my wine journey. Thirsty Owl began its run in 2001 when Tedd Cupp purchased 150 acres of land from pioneers of the Cayuga Wine Trail, Robert and Mary Plane and building it to the production that has some of the oldest vinifera vines in the Finger Lakes with Riesling and Pinot Noir leading the charge. This wine brought me back with aromas of green apple, lime zest, kiwi with a slight hint of petrol. Despite calling itself a dry Riesling, there is some residual sugar in the mix which offers a touch of honeysuckle supported by vibrant slate minerality. It is light on its feet but energetic and radiant, bringing bliss to this New York native.
