Item # 25661 750mL

In the Gioia del Colle, 300 to 400 meters above sea level, Polvanera's Primitivo profits from sunshine and a rocky habitat. The grapes are hand-selected, coming from old vines well adapted to the terrain of Apulia.

Staff Pick Notes

Primitivo, a typical grape from Puglia comes originally from the other side of the Adriatic Sea. Between the 15th and the 16th century a lot of people escaped the Ottoman occupation and brought with them to Italy the Primitivo grape. The grape got its name for its tendency to ripen early. The wine produced has flavors of red and black fruit, herbs and spices followed by tobacco and licorice. The wine is aged for six months in stainless steel vats and, after that for three months in the bottle. This way the typical fruity qualities of this grape are shown at their best. I like the velvety texture of this wine and the fruity smooth finish that lingers in your mouth.
