Wine made from grapes grown organically using natural composting techniques and special preparations of herbal sprays while following the astronomical calendar.

Tasting Notes

Les Argiles comes from old Chenin Blanc vines in Vouvray, but due to arcane French bureaucratic law, you won't find Vouvray anywhere on the label. This is a rich, powerful white wine yet dry, balanced and exquisite all the same. Drink with only a gentle chill. Serve with aging, soft goat cheese, salad with egg, or lightly spicy/sweet poultry dishes.

Staff Pick Notes

Francois Chidaine was an early pioneer of biodynamic practices in the Loire, and in his twenty plus years of making wine he's become one of region's most esteemed producers. The quintessential artisanal winemaker, he hand harvests all the grapes and vinifies with native yeasts. Here you have an exquisite Chenin Blanc sourced from some of his top vineyards in Vouvray. It's full-bodied but bone dry and bursting with bright, fresh acidity, making it hard to put the glass down. All of Chenin's signature notes are here: beautiful honey, apple, pear, and lemon. Pair it with a goat cheese salad or roasted chicken.

As diverse as Loire wines are, one day soon you'll know your Melon de Bourgogne from your Romorantin.

These days, one of the most exciting stories is in South Africa, where newly...
