Okay, I will admit, I was biased to love this wine: my favorite wine region, my favorite grape varietal, and my favorite producer that my wallet can afford. I knew this was going to blow me away before I tasted it and it still managed to exceed my expectations. Coming from what is essentially one of the "Grand Cru" vineyard sites within Barolo, this subregion is on the highest elevation hillside in Barolo, with mineral-packed soils that absolutely translate in the wine. Expect classic aromas of violets, dried rose petals, and a whisper of truffle. On the palate, with enough decanting time, it brings tart cherries, toasted spice, and chalky minerality. While you can enjoy this now I highly recommend laying it down as long as possible. I rarely have that patience and am already reaching for my wine key...
