This long awaited (and much acclaimed) whiskey has finally arrived. For years, we have only been able to get brief tastes of this excellent dram while traveling abroad or when friends would bring back a little to remind us what we were missing. Adding to the increasingly great selection of single pot still Irish whiskies, Yellow Spot is made with a different recipe altogether from its younger cousin Green Spot. In addition, there is a minimum 12-year age statement and three different oak regiments, consisting of ex-bourbon barrels, Sherry butts, and Málaga dessert wine casks. The nose is full of pears, vanilla, straw, and Granny Smith Jolly Ranchers. The entry on the palate is light and elegant all the way through as the flavors transition from peanuts to honey and toffee to candied apple again with gentle oak spices on the finish. Due to the high demand and short supply, this item will likely be on a strict limited allocation all year.
