Staff Pick Notes

One of the reasons I find whisky so enthralling is its tremendous breadth of aromas and tastes. Japanese whiskies are known to be delicate, balanced, and exotic. You can dip your beak in almost any bottle from Suntory and get tropical flowers and lavish spices. Although the same is true for Nikka, this dram is their maverick. It’s a blend of two single malts and while it remains delicate, the aroma and palate meander into the land of luxurious dessert. You'll find vanilla, smoke, white chocolate, opulent wood spice, silky cream, and some dry peat. I’ve recommended whiskies as apéritifs, as entrée pairings, and now I’m saying, “Screw the cake, and pour this instead.”
