Laws Four Grain Straight Bourbon

Laws Whiskey House is easily one of, if not the most impressive, Bourbons outside of Kentucky. Their whole goal is to make terroir-driven whiskey which you often don't hear outside of wine. This "sense of place" is coming from using locally sourced heirloom grain and heritage corn from two family run Colorado farms. Normally you don't hear talks of different grain varietals but here you do, that's some pretty geeky stuff. How does it taste? On the nose we get floral honeyed qualities alongside tons of crushed pepper and black tea. Palate wise we have a rich and velvety texture. A good amount of baking spice, orange zest, vanilla bean, and dried tobacco. This pairs immensely well with a campfire, trees and a cast iron seared ribeye. Drink out of a tin mug with friends.
