Ledaig makes the kind of whisky we could happily drink all day. After years, they have thankfully begun to release some precious older stocks. This eighteen year was finished in Spanish sherry casks before bottling. Fully peated, the spirit opens with engaging notes of creosote and toasted seaweed that extend to licorice, dark chocolate with sea salt, black pepper, dried chiles, espresso beans and vanilla.

History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century. In 1644, the first taxes were imposed on Scottish distillers by England, with the result that most of the nation’s whisky was soon distilled illicitly.
